Fresh Brewed News from Two Boston Companies

Eat Your Coffee’s New Product Energizes Fresh Trucks New FreshConnect Program

An exciting partnership is brewing between two local organizations: Fresh Truck and Eat Your Coffee. Fresh Truck, a Boston-based nonprofit whose goal to increase access to healthy food, is expanding its services by working with healthcare providers through a program called FreshConnect to better serve its communities. Eat Your Coffee, a Boston-based snack food company and Fresh Truck’s former officemate is spreading the word and donating $5 for every pack purchased of its newest product line, Caffeinated Snack Bites, on its website during the month leading up to the Boston Marathon.

Fresh Truck operates retrofitted school buses as mobile markets to make affordable, healthy food accessible to low-income communities. Through FreshConnect, health care providers will be able to cover the cost of food for patients across Fresh Truck’s mobile market sites informing patient care. 'It’s exciting to see what Fresh Truck has been able to accomplish in the Boston community and the possibilities of FreshConnect. We’re honored to be involved and have the opportunity to play the small role we are in its announcement', says Johnny Fayad, co-founder of Eat Your Coffee.

Eat Your Coffee is launching a new product of its own -- Caffeinated Snack Bites --that are 100 calories or less, pack as much caffeine as a shot of espresso, and have no added sugar. They’re hoping that these bites will not only energize customers but also help energize the start of the FreshConnect program with some additional fundraising. For every pack of Caffeinated Snack Bites sold on our website using code FRESHCONNECT, we will donate $5 to Fresh Truck from March 25th through Marathon April 19th. For those of you counting, that’s 26.2 days.

100% of Eat Your Coffee’s donation is going to a low-income Boston family to put a little extra healthy food on the table, so be sure to share this great campaign to help two local organizations in Boston. When checking out on Eat Your Coffee’s website, be sure to use the code FRESHCONNECT, to get Fresh Truck some funds and also score free shipping.

FAQ:

What is Fresh Truck?

Fresh Truck is a Boston-based non-profit that operates converted school buses as mobile markets to increase access to healthy food. The Fresh Truck FreshConnect program is a ‘food prescription’ system that covers the cost of healthy food for low-income families at Fresh Truck mobile market sites. Eat Your Coffee, a Boston-based snack food company, and Fresh Truck’s former officemate is spreading the word and donating $5 of FreshConnect shopper funds for every box of its new Caffeinated Snack Bites purchased on its website during 26.2 days leading up to the Boston Marathon.

Why is FreshConnect important?

We know that food is the foundation for our health. For low-income households, affordability is a major barrier to healthy eating. Fresh Truck mobile markets bring healthy food to neighborhoods that lack access, and FreshConnect makes it possible for health care organizations, corporate groups, and private donors to help cover the cost of healthy food for low-income households.
