3 energizing smoothie bowls you NEED to try

Smoothie bowls are one the hottest trends of the summer right now, combining both the refreshing taste of an icy summer drink with the clean, fruity taste of a fruit smoothie.

If you haven’t seen smoothie bowls all over social media, then just know that they're thicker than regular fruit smoothies but are lighter than ice creams or gelaro so that you won't feel that post-meal weigh down that a creamier meal might give you. I personally love whipping up a quick smoothie bowl as an energizing breakfast before work or even as a energy restoring snack post workout. They’re so easy to make and the opportunities to customize your bowls to your favorite tastes and flavors are endless.

The bowls get their consistency from the base ingredient which is usually a banana or avocado, which helps bind the liquid and solid ingredients together. One of the most important parts of a smoothie bowl is the toppings and mix ins, as they are the part of the bowl that makes it filling and changes up the texture from the constant smooth and creamy consistency. There are many combinations of toppings that you can use in your smoothie bowls, and adding fresh fruits on top of smoothie bowls only increases the amount of health fruit servings you can get from a single bowl.

If you want to add an energizing kick to your smoothie bowl, consider using an Eat Your Coffee Bar. They’re really easy to crumble and add in as a bowl topping and as an added bonus provide a caffeine dosage equivalent to your morning cup of coffee. The variety of bar flavors such as coconut mocha or caramel macchiato mirror traditional coffee flavors and pair well with some of the most popular fruit combinations used in smoothie bowls.

Here are three of my favorite energizing smoothie bowl recipes to get you started. Don’t be afraid to try out new recipes and substitute different fruits to add variety; it’s hard to go wrong when making smoothie bowls!
